Weekly Handouts

Every other week, our team puts together handout materials for the tribe to access and practice speaking Chukchansi. These fliers include QR codes of the Language Department Staff speaking each word aloud.

We believe the best way to learn Chukchansi is to hear it.

Using modern technology, we hope to make that possible for everyone.

Pich'aʔhiy'

Here are the words for the Chukchansi numerical system. This was the first ever handout produced by the language department containing the QR code voice recordings.

 Colors

Below are the Chukchansi words for colors. Although we have the name for the colors themselves, we do not have the words for "Colors" as a general term. Here we used the word "Takaalap" or "Rainbow" instead.

Itsy Bitsy Spider (Little Little Spider)

Shonna Alexander worked diligently to get a rhythmic translation for this well-know nursery rhyme. With further help from Linguist Chris Golston, we were able to match the melody to the original.
